Well, I’ve been a little bit busy recently.

Yours truly just made a giant update to the F1 maps I created for my article back in August 2024.

It’s now completely revamped to be a fully interactive 3D mapping experience complete with maps of all the F1 tracks, maps of all the F1 team factories and tons and tons of stats.

You can check it out at maphappenings.com/f1 or by selecting “F1 Map” from the Map Happenings site menu bar.

Here’s a sneak peak:

The map was built using the mapping platform Elemap, powered by Elebase. Elemap provides a super easy way to publish interactive maps and data without any need to code or be a mapping geek. It’s perfect for non technical folks to create some really absorbing content. You can think of it like Squarespace, only for interactive maps!

My particular thanks to John Frandsen and his team for making Elemap available to me for this very fun project!

Tips:

• On a Mac the map provides the most 3D detail on Chrome (sorry to Safari aficionados)
• Click/tap on “List” (top left) to get to the list of all the races and teams
• Click/tap any item in the list to zoom in. 
• Click/tap any corner of a race circuit to get the turn number (and name if available).
• Don’t forget to try out the 3D button … it’s so cool (check out Round 22: Las Vegas)
• To spin the map on an iPad or tablet: use your fingers.
• To spin the map on a Mac or PC: hold down the control key while using the keypad/mouse.
